The Donald Patz Wine Group was founded in May 2017 by Donald Patz and his wife Jung Min Lee to pursue new directions in winemaking. The Donald Patz Wine Group has three new winery projects Maritana Vineyards | Terminim | Secret Door and you can try and get a more in depth wine experience with each vintage at Mala Ocean Tavern on Friday, March 10, with Donald Patz. Join us for a late night wine event with a living legend and winemaker, Donald Patz, and Dan Redman Senior Vice President of Sales for Donald Patz Wine Group. A regular visitor to Maui and the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival, Donald Patz has been in the wine industry for decades, and his most recent pursutes have led to The Donald Patz Wine Group. May 1, 2017 Donald Patz set out to build a group of vineyard sources to produce wines from several parts of California. It is tempting to run far afield and gather grapes from all over the State of California for his new projects, but instead he determined to focus on – Russian River Valley in Sonoma for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; Napa Valley for Cabernet Sauvignon and eventually in a partnership with François Villard of the Rhône Valley in France – Mendocino County/Alder Springs Vineyard for
Cépages d’Or - a Rhône-styled white, and a Syrah wine. Mr. Patz with the belief to achieve consistency and greatness producing wine, says there must be an underlying focus on one or two varieties. Patz split his overall program into three separate winemaking teams – each focused on a different challenge. Those are not just brands – each of these projects are purchasing grapes from different areas, making the wines are different locations and using different techniques to craft wines that represent the place that they come from – but also the ideals that Mr. Patz has developed over his years in the wine business shine through.
The Donald Patz Wine Group strongly feel that the wines currently available are great examples of both the quality and style that each winery represents.
