Volunteer for Maui with Pacific Whale Foundation
Join Māla Ocean Tavern in supporting the Pacific Whale Foundation’s Mālama Pono Program, a hands-on volunteer effort to restore Maui’s native ecosystems from mauka to makai. Help remove invasive species, plant native vegetation, and give back to the ʻāina.
At Mala Ocean Tavern, caring for our island community is at the heart of what we do. We’re proud to support the Pacific Whale Foundation’s Malama Pono Program, a volunteer initiative dedicated to restoring Maui’s native ecosystems and nurturing a deeper connection to the ʻaina.
Through Malama Pono, volunteers work alongside local conservationists to remove invasive species, outplant native vegetation, and restore natural habitats across the Olowalu to Maʻalaea area, reaching from mountain to sea. These efforts help protect Maui’s unique biodiversity and build a stronger, more sustainable future for the island.
Whether you’re a local resident or a visiting guest, volunteering with Malama Pono is a meaningful way to give back to Maui. Each project offers hands-on education, team bonding, and the chance to connect with the land and community in a truly authentic way. Together, we can help Maui thrive. 🧡💙

Join Māla Ocean Tavern for Elijah Craig Old-Fashioned Week from October 10–19. Enjoy our featured S’mores Old-Fashioned, a cozy twist on the classic cocktail crafted with Elijah Craig Bourbon. Every sip supports the Southern Smoke Hospitality Foundation, providing relief and care for hospitality workers in need.

Māla Ocean Tavern is proud to take part in Elijah Craig’s Old-Fashioned Week, happening October 10–19. This nationwide celebration honors one of the most iconic cocktails of all time while raising funds for an important cause.
This year’s event supports the Southern Smoke Hospitality Foundation, a nonprofit that provides emergency relief and mental health services to food and beverage workers in need. Their efforts have been a lifeline for countless individuals in our industry, especially through the challenges of the pandemic and the recent Maui wildfires.
To mark the occasion, MĀLA is featuring a S’mores Old-Fashioned, a decadent twist on the classic made with Elijah Craig Bourbon, toasted marshmallow, chocolate, and graham-inspired notes. It’s comfort in a glass, with every sip supporting a greater cause.
