Hana Hou Hospitality’s Round-Up Program Featured in HAWAIʻI Magazine

Mala Ocean Tavern is so proud to see Hana Hou Hospitality’s Round-Up Program featured in HAWAIʻI Magazine, highlighting the meaningful impact that small contributions from restaurant guests can have on Maui’s local nonprofits and community organizations.

The Hana Hou Hospitality Round-Up Program gives guests at participating restaurants, including Mala Ocean Tavern, an easy way to support organizations doing important work across Maui. When dining at a participating restaurant, guests can choose to round up their check to the nearest dollar, with 100% of those contributions going toward local nonprofit organizations.

Mala Ocean Tavern is proud to participate alongside our sister restaurants, Coco Deck Lahaina, Pizza Paradiso, and Pineapple Robot. Together, our restaurants provide more opportunities for guests to take part in the program and support organizations doing meaningful work throughout Maui.

For us at MALA, being part of this program is another way we can help support the community we are fortunate to call home. The program was created to give diners an opportunity to make a difference while enjoying a meal, turning a simple restaurant visit into an opportunity to contribute to causes that matter.

Throughout 2026, the program has supported different Maui nonprofits each quarter. During the first and second quarters, contributions went to the Lahaina Community Land Trust, supporting long-term recovery efforts in the area. For the third quarter, contributions supported Kahakukahi Ocean Academy (K.O.A.), which empowers Maui’s youth through ocean education, environmental stewardship, mentorship and cultural connection. The curreny fourth-quarter beneficiary is the Lahaina Restoration Foundation. The organization works to preserve Lahaina’s historic landmarks, cultural heritage and sense of place for future generations.
